Adopting a Greyhound through Elysian Fields Sanctuary

Congratulations on making the big decision to welcome one of these incredible dogs into your home! The best decision I have ever made was to adopt my very first greyhound, he changed my life, he saved me in many ways, and we continue to be there for each other every day. With all big commitments, there will be challenges, but I can guarantee that the loyal companionship you and your greyhound will share going through the journey together will be worth it.

We are big advocates for educating and training all of our hounds as best as we can to ensure that they will have all the manners expected of a pet hound, every hound has their different quirks and not all hounds will suit all homes. We will always do our best to match all applicants with the best possible greyhound.

Please note, it is imperative that you have adequate fencing per the questions below for your application to be approved. Exceptions are made for applicants residing in Apartment/Units.

Adequate fencing for greyhounds is a minimum height of 90cm with secure gates

Are you prepared to work through the transition period with your adopted greyhound?

All greyhounds will go through a transition period while they adjust to their new life and routines. It is imperative to be patient and supportive of your hound during this time. This can be anywhere from 2-3 months

Are you prepared to share your space (and possibly couch) with your foster greyhound?

Are you willing to allow a house inspection and/or provide adequate photo/video of your property for approval?
